Big changes have been made throughout the building as part of the redevelopment project. Just outside these doors is the clocktower. A new lift has been installed so everyone can explore it.
The clocktower lift has been installed alongside a new staircase. This means more people can explore the tower and see the amazing views from the top.
Conservation and restoration work hasn’t just taken place inside the building. From repairing and repointing stonework, to fixing leadwork and reroofing, there has been a lot happening to the outside of the building as well.
Down on the ground there have been big changes too. Town Hall Square has had a makeover. It is newly paved and features the Rochdale Carpet paving stones. These are etched with symbols and pictures inspired by the decoration in the Town Hall. You can also relax on our new benches, which take inspiration from Rochdale’s history of trade and commerce.
